i-Health
The cluster for Innovation in Health (i-health) includes the most recent medical advances with the combination of basic clinical knowledge of diseases and the use in the medical domain of information and communication technologies (medical imaging and specialized technologies for centralized and personalized management of diseases). This is an area of important innovation and is specifically included in the FP7 of the European Union. It has enormous social repercussion and economic impact since it allows advances in preventive measures, early diagnosis and the treatment and monitoring of illness.
The cluster aims to take advantage of the unique situation of the campus, which is home to a powerful Biomedical Science area. It must emphasize the hospitals linked to the Faculty of Medicine, experts in health-oriented applications of information and communication technologies. This union allows the cluster to cover from the most basic aspects of biomedical research all the way through to practical implementation und validation using clinical trials and tests.
