International Call of Doctoral Scholarships 2011



Call of 14 Grants for Schoolarships and Standardized Contracts (4 years) for the performance of PhDs marked by at least two practising doctors from the two associated Universities, the UCM and the UPM, and/or by doctors from the other associated Institutions. Campus Moncloa groups


Objective: Development of PhD theses marked by at least two practising doctors from the two associated Universities, the UCM and the UPM, with the possibility of participation by doctors from the other associated Institutions within the context of the Campus Moncloa in these areas: Global Change and New Energies, Materials for the Future, Agri-food and Health, Innovative Medicine, and Heritage. The thesis tutors or supervisors must be involved in the activities of the corresponding cluster and perform common activities between the two Universities.


Applicants: According to art. 3 of the Regulatory bases, and Art. 2 of the Call, the following requirements must be met at the time the application is filed:


  • To have Spanish nationality, or the nationality of an EU member state, or another nationality with lawful residence in Spain, or where the said lawful residence is being processed.
  • Applicants must prove that they are in possession of the qualification or that they have met the requirements in order to progress to Official Postgraduate studies, in accordance with any of the following university regulations:
  • Official Postgraduate Studies governed by Royal Decree 1393/2007 of 29 October, establishing the regulation of official university teaching:
  1. To have completed the studies for the official Spanish qualification of Master’s Graduate, Engineer, or Architect.
  2. To have completed the studies for the official Spanish qualification of Diploma Degree, Technical Engineer and Technical Architect, and to have passed at least 60 post-graduate credits.
  3. Not to have completed the studies for the official Spanish qualification of Master’s Graduate, Engineer, or Architect, and to have attained 300 graduate and post-graduate credits, of which at least 60 must be post-graduate.
  • In the case of applicants who have obtained the qualification or completed the studies that provide access to the doctorate under foreign educational systems, the provisions of article 16 of Royal Decree 1393/2007 of 29 October shall apply: persons qualified under educational systems other than the European Higher Education Area may apply without having to legalize their qualifications, once the University has verified that the said qualifications are proof of a level of training that is equivalent to the corresponding official Spanish university qualifications and that they entitle the applicant to pursue post-graduate education in the country in which the qualification is issued.
  • To be pre-registered, enrolled, or accepted (at the time of the start of the grant) in a doctorate or Masters programme oriented towards the Campus Moncloa doctorate of the UCM or UPM, or in an inter-university programme in which one or both universities are participating.
  • Persons who have enjoyed other grants of similar characteristics during a period of two or more years, and persons who are already in possession of a PhD, may not apply for these grants.

Applications: Applications must be filled out using the online application, which may be accessible from this web site from 15 September to 14 October 2011 at 14.00h.
