Microbiological Identification based on MALDI Biotyper Mass Spectrometry Meeting

On October 22th, a scientific Meeting focused on the Microbiological Identification based on Bruker MALDI Biotyper Mass Spectrometry and the presentation of the Unit [constituted by the MALDI-TOF / TOF mass spectrometry platform acquired in the Acquisition Program of scientific and technical equipment and Adaptation of Infrastructure (CAIMON) Campus of International Excellence (CEI) Campus Moncloa call and located in the Health Surveillance Centre (VISAVET) will be placed.
The acquisition of this platform MALDI TOF / TOF to identify microoganisms (mainly bacteria and fungi), molecular histology, proteomics and metabolomics in the framework of thee Agri-Food and Health Cluster of CEI, supposes a major strengthening this thematic area, defined within the strategic plan of the Campus Moncloa , encouraging research and promoting the cluster to a more innovative and competitive future.
The main aim of the Meeting is to present the Bruker MALDI technology optimized for the identification of microbial species, bacteria, fungi and yeasts by the MALDI-TOF technology. This approach allows rapid and almost unequivocally identification, compared with other conventional techniques being a fully implemented benchmark in the clinical setting. In this case, the Meeting will be focused on veterinary and food safety applications which represents an important development offering significant advantages.
