Agri-Food and Health
Agri-food and health cluster is focused on Sustainable Production of safety and health in the food production. The objectives of the cluster are: promote excellence in research, internationalization and integration of teaching at Masters and PhD programs. The creation of the CEI Moncloa food corridor, has a special role to achieve synergies between their groups and, together social responsibility (transfer, entrepreneurial spirit, safety, welfare, social culture, scientific culture and heritage, and cooperation). All this through the improvement of the organization and management, integration of groups and infrastructures, the sustainability of scientific facilities, posting for their regulations, accreditation and value for common use and integration with public agencies and businesses projects and consortiums..
Priority lines
- Animal Production and Health: nutrition, public health and welfare in livestock and aquaculture.
- Vegetable production systems: production and sustainable management, including risk in agro-food sources.
- Agri-Food technology: advanced technologies for quality, safety and traceability.
- Food-safety and Hygiene: safety and Health in the food production.
Research offer
The proposal of the Agri-Food and Health cluster (A&H) includes the activities that the Complutense University of Madrid (UCM), and the Polytechnic University of Madrid (UPM) and associated organism are carrying out in the field of generation of agricultural and livestock products, their processing to production of safe, healthy and quality food for human and animal consumption, obtained through sustainable techniques and system and respecting the welfare standards through the development and application of new technologies.
In the cluster A&H is included a plot of 76Ha in which are located at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, UCM with two degrees (FV-UCM), two research centers (VISAVET-UCM and a Reproduction Center), an animal hospital (UCM), the Department for Animal Production (UPM), field of practices and facilities of the School of Agricultural Engineering (UPM). Here there are more than 250 teachers and researchers who are working, and study more than 500 students.
Academic offer
- Three Masters / PhD sets (UPM / UCM + aggregate entities) proposed ANECA: Agroingeniería, TAPAS and Production and Animal Health. We are planning to add another: Technology / Food Engineering.
- Summer courses for students / of High School.
- Congress for biomedical sciences and veterinary medicine.

The most important infrastructure of A&H is the Agri-food corridor (Soto for Agri-food and Health) SOTO 2020 (it has its own strategy of PD).
