Our group was born in 1992 responding to the Complutense University of Madrid call for research groups constitution in the frame of the academic and research backgrounds of their Professors. Its member have been lecturing in different topics of the Pharmacy, Human Nutrition and Dietetics, and Food Science and Technology Degrees and in the Master and PhD post-grade in Pharmaceutical Sciences, among them detaching the topics of Nutrition and Cardiovasculard diseases, Functional Foods and Nutrigenomics, and Personalized Nutrition.
In addition, the group # 920536 is working for several years in the role of diets and their nutritive and non-nutritive ingredients on the some degenerative disease prevention, with special mention of cardiovascular disease (COR 0002/94; ALI 98-0830, Consejería Castilla-La Mancha 93145, AGL 2001-2398-C03-03; AGL 2003 y AGL2005-07204-C02-01/ALI, AGL 2008-01892-C03-02, FISS 00/0015-01; Fundación para la Investigación en Salud de Castilla La Mancha (FISCAM) AN/2006/22 y PI2009/01; Consolider-Ingenio 2010 CSD2007-00016; AGL-2011-29644-C02-02), and/or functional foods (AGL 2001-2398-C03-03; AGL 2003 y AGL2005-07204-C02-01/ALI, AGL 2008-01892-C03-02, Consolider-Ingenio 2010 CSD2007-00016; AGL-2011-29644-C02-02).
We believe that the multidisciplinary charcter of the group is relevant as its member backgrounds are, under many points of view, complementary. Thus, they have ample experience in Nutrition, Dietetics, Nutritional epidemiology, Aging, oxidative stress, Mineral and Lipoprotein metabolisms, among others, as can be deduced in the different sections of present Web page. As an example, the isolation and quantification of lipoproteins in humans and animal models has been extendedly referenced internationally. Novelty has our contribution in the significant relationships between mineral levels and lipid, lipoproteins, blood pressure in animal models and human neonates and adults.
At present this group is searching on hormonal and lipoprotein early biomarkers of Metabolic syndrome (MS) and the effects assessment of relevant gene-diet interactions in Cardiovascular Diseases (CVD).
