The work presented allow to disseminate the scientific research performed by the different sublines that comprises the IGEO , as well as the activity accomplished by its Technical Units, available to the entire scientific community.

This publication collects the papers presented at the 1st Scientific Meeting of IGEO, held in September 2011 in the Faculty of Mathematics of the UCM.

The publication presents the research performed by researchers and teachers who are part of the nine sublines comprising the Geosciences Institute IGEO (CSIC-UCM), short communications dealt with specific investigations and the activity carried ouy by its Research Technical Units, available to the entire scientific community.

This volume lets us to know about of the major research potential of the IGEO and commitment to cooperation, both between the different sublines and Technical Units that make up the IGEO and with of other research agencies. Thus, an important path to establish collaborations between IGEO and many of the groups that are part of Moncloa Campus, especially those integrated into New Energy and Global Change, Heritage and Materials for the Future clusters, it is opened.
