Beatriz Blasco Esquivias, a Professor of History of Art at the UCM, is the new coordinator of the Heritage cluster

The Rector of the Universidad Complutense de Madrid, José Carrillo, has recently appointed Beatriz Blasco Esquivias as a new coordinator of the Heritage Cluster, which is an area of expertise of the Moncloa Campus.

The Rector of the Universidad Complutense de Madrid , José Carrillo, has recently appointed Beatriz Blasco Esquivias as a new coordinator of the Heritage cluster , which is an area of expertise of the Moncloa Campus .

Blasco is a Professor of History of Art at the UCM, where she graduated and undertook a PhD with Honors after completing her education at the Spanish Academy of Fine Arts in Rome.

She is an expert in history of architecture and city in the Modern Age; she co-directed numerous programs of the UNESCO related to Heritage (La Plaza Eurobarroca, 1998; Atlas Mundial de la Arquitectura Barroca, 2001) and took part in other projects such as the Il Sito Unesco: le città tardo-barocche del Val di Noto. Studi, progetti, iniziative, 2008.

Moreover, she carried out museum projects for the Centro de Interpretación de Nuevo Baztán (Madrid, 2001) and for the Centro de Interpretazione a Bitonto sulla sanità urbana, (Italia, 2008). She organized numerous international exhibitions on the subject of her expertise, highlighting the exhibitions dedicated to Filippo Juvarra (Madrid, Turin, Naples, 1994, 1995 y 1998), Fernando VI and Bárbara de Braganza (Madrid, 2003) and Madrid and the Royal Places (Madrid, 2003).

The Professor Blasco received the following awards in research: the Humanities Research Award 1991, the award for ”œUrbanism, Architecture and Civil engineering 1991”, the award for ”œUrbanism, Architecture and Civil engineering 2010” and Villa de Madrid Award 2010. Since January 2010 she is Associate Dean for Research at the School of Geography and History.

The new coordinator will work along with the Professor Juan Miguel Hernández de León, a professor of Composition at the Madrid School of Architecture (ETSAM) of the UPM. Hernández is the UPM coordinator of the Heritage cluster since 2010.
