The Microdrone MD4-1000 system was previously acquired by the university on a call for scientific infrastructure for the Campus Moncloa: Campus of International Excellence funded by the Ministry of Economy and Competitiveness.

The equipment is jointly operated by the CAI de Arqueometría y Análisis Arqueológico and the Departmental Section of Astronomy and Geodesy of School of Mathematics UCM.

Being authorized as drone operators with qualified pilots of radio-controlled aircraft is a remarkable fact since only a few numbers of companies and public organisms are authorized in Spain to carry out research using this technology.
