Francisco Tirado Férnadez, the vice-rector for Research UCM & General Coordinator CIE Moncloa UCM, was awarded with the National Computing Awards 2013

The Jose García Santesmases National Computing Award 2013 was granted to Francisco Tirado Fernández, the General Coordinator CEI UCM, Professor of Architecture and Computer Technology and the vice-rector for Research UCM.

The Jose García Santesmases National Computing Award 2013 was granted to Francisco Tirado Fernández, the General Coordinator CEI UCM, Professor of Architecture and Computer Technology and the vice-rector for Research UCM.

This award was given to Tirado as recognition of his significant contributions to the promotion, support and research in Computing Science throughout his extensive career. The jury highlighted “his contribution to a consolidated career and the social perception of computing as a scientific discipline in our country”.

Tirado boosted the creation of Society of Architecture and Computer Technology (SARTECO), the creation of the Spanish Scientific Computing Society (SCIE). He actively participated in commissions to develop National plans of R&D. Also, he encouraged the creation of a research group focused on the fields of High Performance Computing and Synthesis of Digital Systems.
