In this study, researchers designed and developed a remote monitoring equipment capable of obtaining the half-cell potentials reinforcing in steels immersed in concrete in order to assess the corrosion. These concretes were previously subjected to accelerated carbonation and chloride ion attacks.
The monitoring system is based on the regulation that determines the corrosion probability on the samples tested from 0% to 100%. This system allows its installation on site that, with the mobile network coverage, can remotely send information by text messages to start or stop the measurements. Results are stored on a local data logger in microSD cards, after that, this data is sent through General Packet Radio Service (GPRS) to a web server.
