Madrid from the Nanoworld

The winning photography of the competition held during the Materials Week is the work entitled “Madrid from nanoworld”.

The winning photography of the competition held during the Materials Week is the work entitled “Madrid from nanoworld”. The photo is the result of a surface etching of tungsten nanostructured with a chemical solution called Murakami (10g K3Fe(CN)6, 10g NaOH, 100 cm3 distilled water). During the surface inspection and due to the etching does not have the same effect in all directions sometimes, you might found curious formations. In this case, the shape of Community of Madrid becomes visible after 25 seconds etching.

The photo has been awarded by the CEI Campus Moncloa Materials Week. The author is Nuria Gordillo, researcher at the Instituto de Fusión Nuclear de la Universidad Politécnica de Madrid at the Moncloa Campus within the Programme for Attracting Talent (PICATA)
