Title: Silicon thin film for photovoltaic uses
Date: Monday 25th November at 09:30
Place: E.T.S. Civil Engineering, basement 1
Speaker: Julio Cárabe
Free admission
Summary
The silicon is the electronic material par excellence and its uses in photovoltaic are not an exception. More than 85% of photovoltaic devices manufactured worldwide are made of silicon. The vast majority of these devices are made of mono or multi-crystalline silicon wafers. However, the silicon use in thin films in the area of photovoltaic provides potential benefits and its use is becoming increasingly widespread.
The speaker will describe the most important techniques for the growth of thin film silicon and will summarize the structural, optical and electric properties and the preparation of photovoltaic devices including silicon thin film as an essential component.
