Joanne Kamens, PhD
Addgene Executive Director, Boston (USA)

Dr. Kamens is the executive Director of Addgene, a nonprofit dedicated to helping scientists around the world sharing plasmid reagents internationally. She received her PhD in Genetics from Harvard Medical School then spent 15 years at BASF/Abbott, ultimately serving as Group Leader in Molecular Biology. In 2007 she joined RXi Pharmaceuticals as Senior Director of Research Collaborations.


Dr. Kamens has been raising awareness of women scientists since 1998. She founded the current Boston chapter of the Association for Women in Science, and served as Director of the Healthcare Businesswomen’s Association Mentoring Program for 3 years. She was recognized as one of the 2013 PharmaVoice 100 Most Inspiring and one of the Forty Over 40 Women Making an Impact.

Seisques

Seisques is an interdisciplinary collective of researchers, artists and educators that have a common creative vision for how research and knowledge should be inspired, developed and shared. They believe that using tools more connected with the artistic processes can allow us to awaken new ways of approaching research that can create new knowledge and contribute to our work. In their proposals they bring creative approaches to encourage researchers to feel confident coming up new ideas. They use exercises to think about how to disseminate and communicate research, not only to the general public but also across research disciplines.

Dr.Pablo Barrecheguren
Divulgador Científico

Pablo has a PhD in Biomedicine (Neuroscience) and was finalist at the Spanish final of Famelab 2015, a contests about scientific monologues. Since that moment, he has been working on science communication, because “I think that science needs to create a strong scientific culture in the society”. He studied in the Escola d’Escriptura de l’Ateneu Barcelonés, develop his writing skills through the publication of several educational scientific papers and runs and presents Neurocosas.

Ana Saurí received her PhD at Universidad de Valencia. She is currently working at QPS Clinic Company as a senior scientist.

Dr. Marc Liesa

Marc Liesa obtained his PhD in 2008 at IRB Barcelona, where he studied in Antonio Zorzano's Complex Metabolic Diseases and Mitochondria Laboratory. In 2009, he moved to the US to undertake a 4-year postdoctoral training period at the Boston University School of Medicine. In 2013, he held his first faculty position as an Instructor in Medicine, followed by an appointment as Assistant Professor at the same institution in Boston. In 2015, he was appointed Assistant Professor in-residence at the Department of Medicine, David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA, leading his own research group.

Dr. Joaquín L. Herraiz

Joaquín López Herraiz, of Madrid, received his undergraduate degree in fundamental physics from the University Complutense of Madrid (Spain) in 2003, where he obtained his PhD in Nuclear Physics in 2010.


He has participated in more than 12 research projects funded with public grants. In the last few years, he worked as a postdoctoral fellow in the Madrid-MIT m+Vision program where he leaded two projects to improve the capabilities of PET and MRI scanners in collaboration with hospitals and universities in Boston and Madrid.

Rebeca Minguela

MSc in Telecommunication Engineering for Polytechnic University in Madrid and Stuttgart University (all of them with Distinction). With working experience as consultant at Boston Consulting Group and as engineer at German Aerospace Agency, Siemens and IBM. She holds an MBA from Harvard Business School.


Rebeca was Founder & CEO of Blink Booking, the award winning last minute hotel booking mobile app leader in Europe. Rebeca and Blink Booking have been featured widely in the press including Forbes, The Economist, Financial Times, and many others. Blink was acquired by Groupon in Sept 2013. Currently, Rebeca is Founder of Clarity, a start up that tries to build an automated tool to rate companies, projects, governments and NGOs. She is also advisor at several startups.
