La Edafología es una Ciencia fundamental para entender el desarrollo de los ecosistemas. La investigación que este Grupo aporta, está en línea con la demanda de tecnologías sencillas y fiables que permitan identificar y analizar la incidencia y consecuencias de la presencia de contaminantes en suelos, investigación que lleva realizando en colaboración activa tanto con la UPM, así como, con algunas otras entidades: INIA, CIEMAT, CSIC, CAM, en particular en el cluster "Cambio Global y Nuevas Energías" en aspectos docentes-investigación. Forma parte del la Red CARESOIL, lo que confirma su vocación interdisciplinar, objetivo básico del CEI.
