Nano-waffle for molecular recognition (Victor Canalejas Tejero). Materials for the Future
Atomic force microscope (AFM) image of a grid made of polymeric material, specifically PMMA, a plastic with lots of common applications. The grid was manufactured by electron beam lithography, being its thickness less than the hundredth the thickness of a hair. As melted chocolate on a waffle, the grid can soak up fluid in order to trap molecules of interest in biochemical applications.
