CIE Campus Moncloa shows the results of its first two years
Universities presented the candidates CIE 2011 projects in a meeting summoned by Ministry of Education and Science and Innovation. In addition, nine CIE 2009 projects have presented their results; one of them was CIE Campus Moncloa.

Universities presented the candidatures for CIE 2011 projects in a meeting summoned by Ministry of Education and Science and Innovation. In addition, nine CIE 2009 projects have presented their results; one of them was CIE Campus Moncloa.
The representatives of 40 universities responsible for 8 projects shortlisted in the first phase of the Call Campus of International Excellence 2011 have shown their strategic plan to obtain qualification CIE at Museo Reina Sofia. Nine CIE 2009 projects have shown the results set in the last years. CIE Campus Moncloa The power of diversity led by Universidad Complutense de Madrid and the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid has also presented their results.
The chancellor of the Universidad Complutense, José Carrillo, and of the Universidad Politécnica, Javier Uceda presented the results obtained by CIE Moncloa in the meeting convened by Ministry of Education and Science and Innovation. The Campus Moncloa made progress in its aim to lead the future; it has become an international reference in education, research, innovation, and management. The campus is a healthy and sustainable urban space.
Actions carried out by the CIE Campus Moncloa in the field of teaching and adaptation to European Higher Education Area (EHEA):
1.To start eight Excellence doctorates in the fields of the clusters. These doctorates will be the base to build the International Graduate and PhD School.
2. Presentation of the evaluation of ANECA in the joint master of Animal Health and Production, managed by the Facultad de Veterinaria and the Escuela Técnica Superior de Ingenieros Agrónomos.
3. Designing the School of Government of Campus Moncloa, whose goal is to use the high potential in research and teaching related to the government, politic and public bodies available to Universidad Complutense and Politécnica.
4. Designing the Centre for International studies focused on Latin America, intended to become a world reference for the development, transmission and management of knowledge referred to the Latin American population. The Campus will train Latin-American scientists and technologists in areas of strategic interest.
5. Improvements of communication and data network, including the interconnection of broadband, improvement of wi-fi and virtual campus platform.
6. Opening of María Zambrano library with over 1500 new seats for reading and new infrastructures for new technologies and for the group work demanded by the EHEA.
Actions carried out by the CIE Campus Moncloa in the field of scientific improvement:
1. Implementation and development of the International Programme for Attracting Talent (PICATA) through predoctoral grants, postdoctoral contracts and mobility grants. The proposal includes an international programme incorporating experts for the scientific-technical facilities that have already been built in the Campus. The PICATA programme has a budget of 6.5 million of euros and has completed two calls to date.
2. Important actions performed by the cluster of Global Change and New Energies : to create a joint centre of Environmental Research of Moncloa (CIMAM) in collaboration with CIEMAT. Studying technical preliminaries to build a multipurpose bioclimatic building in the future. The goal is to focus on the resource of the two universities and groups related to the protection and environmental management.
3. Important actions performed by the cluster of Materials for the future : Implementation of the scientist infrastructure for the National Centre for Microscopy. The first phase was completed on July 2011 with the purchase of an ultra high resolution microscope.
4. Relevant actions carried out by the cluster of Agri-Food and Health : project development and space organization of the Agrifood Corridor Moncloa Campus that has elements of capital needed for the development of teaching and research in agrifood areas.
5. Relevant actions carried out by the cluster of i-Health Innovative Medicine : consolidation of Smart House Living-Lab, accessible environment in which to implement new advanced social services and health as telemedicine, tele-rehabilitation, postoperative monitoring or monitoring of diseases such as Parkinson or diabetes.
Performances of CIE Campus Moncloa in the field of transformation of the campus and the interaction with the environment:
1. Creating a new office of the Campus Moncloa, with the collaboration of the Sociedad Pública de Alquiler (Public Rental Company)

2. Development of Campus project. The first phase consists of the recovery of green areas and the public service of bicycle hire (BICICUM).
3. Designing and implementing the PROMOVER programme to promote interest in science, technology and innovation. The programme is formed by the Summer Scientific Campus for students of high school and by the Moncloa Campus University Museums.
