Exhibitions and meeting for the awareness of University Development Cooperation and Volunteering

Next Thursday May 24th a meeting for the awareness in cooperation and volunteering will be performed. This kind of conferences has been previously offered four times a year in various university schools and faculties of both universities of the Campus Moncloa, and are organized by the Non-Governmental Organizations for Development ONGAWA of the Technic University of Madrid (UPM) and Solidarios of the Complutense University of Madrid (UCM), the Directorate for Development Cooperation of the UPM and the Department of Institutional Relationships and Development Cooperation of the UCM, together with the Campus Moncloa.

The event will be held at 10:00 pm in the Auditorium of the Faculty of Geography and History of the Complutense University of Madrid. Speakers will include Professor Magdalena de Pazzis Pi Corrales (Associate Dean for International Affairs), Professor José Carpio (representative of the Geography and History Faculty at the Board for Cooperation), Marina García Gamero (Head of the Institutional Relationships and Development Cooperation Service) and Fernando Calles de los Mozos (Head of the Development Cooperation Section). Then, Fernando Calles de los Mozos will present the Complutense Program of university cooperation for development and volunteering. Finally, the Non-Governmental Organizations for Development Solidarios and ONGAWA will explain their volunteer programs.

Also, from today, May 23th, to June 1st the hall of the Geography and History Faculty will held two interesting exhibitions. One of them is presented by the Spanish Red Cross and is entitled ”œThe development of the South, everybody”™s responsibility”. The second is organized by ONGAWA and entitled ”œThe human right to water and sanitation”.

The Campus Moncloa strengthens its vocation in promoting volunteering and development cooperation.
