Hugues Dreyssé. Diversity and richness of the university museums and collections: renewed interests
Hugues Dreyssé has obtained a PhD in Physics in 1980 in Strasbourg and a «Doctorat d’Etat» in 1984 in Mulhouse. From 1981 to 1988, he has been «Maitre de Conférences» in Mulhouse, then he moved to the University of Nancy where he was Full Professor from 1988 to 1993. Since this date he is Professor at the University of Strasbourg where he’s now Vice-President for Human Resources. His research interests have been theoretical solid state physics and nanosciences. Beside this activity, he’s strongly involved in the dissemination of science since more than 20 years. He’s today the director of the “Jardin des Sciences” which on charge of the museums and the politics of public understanding of the science of the University of Strasbourg. Since 2010, he’s chairman of UMAC (an international committee of the ICOM for University Museums and Academic Collections). Among distinctions he got the « Grand Prix Emile Blute - Paul Doisteau de l’Information Scientifique » given by the French Academy of Sciences in 2002.
Marta Lourenço. University Museums and Collections as Strategic Research Infrastructures in the Sciences and Humanities
Full time researcher at the Museums of the University of Lisbon since 2006, Marta C. Lourenço has background training in Physics (University of Lisbon) and a MA in Museology (New University of Lisbon). She has a PhD in Museology and History of Technology (CNAM, Paris). Her research, teaching and consulting interests include university collections, the history of collections and scientific heritage. She is PI of PRISC (Portuguese Research Infrastructure of Scientific Collections), included in the national roadmap of strategic research infrastructures. She is a research member of CIUHCT, the Interuniversity Research Centre for the History of Science and Technology (University of Lisbon) and associate researcher of the CDHT (Centre d’histoire des techniques et de l’environement), Conservatoire National des Arts et Métiers Paris. Marta C. Lourenço is Vice-President of UNIVERSEUM (European Network for University Heritage) and a Board member of the History of Physics Group (European Physical Society) and the Scientific Instruments Commission (International Union for the History and Philosophy of Science). Since 2014, she is also Deputy Director of the Museums of the University of Lisbon.
