Main research lines

  • Applied Linguistics: phraseology and paremiology
    Objetives: The interdisciplinary and inter-linguistic study of stable linguistic units (short and pithy statements or paremiae, mainly proverbs, and expressions or idioms), focused on language teaching, translation, linguistics and ethno-linguistics. Spanish is the nexus of the different working languages (German, Catalan, French, Galician, Ancient Greek, Modern Greek, English, Italian, Polish, Portuguese, Romanian, Basque).
  • phraseology and paremiology
    Objetives: Study of phraseology and paremias from different perspectives (linguistics, ethnolinguistics, psycholinguistics, documentary,...).
  • Phraseography and paremiography
    Objetives: Collection through consultation of oral and/or written sources of phraseologisms and paremias for their subsequent conservation in printed or digital format (repertoires, databases...).
  • Translatology applied to phraseologisms and paremias
    Objetives: Study of the translatological problems of phraseologisms and paremias to provide techniques and procedures.
  • History, tradition, folklore and cultural heritage
    Objetives: Study of cultural references contained in phraseological expressions and paremias (traditions, customs...).
